Personal Pro-Mo Kit...

These were the pieces I showed at our studio workshop last week.
The final pieces consisted of :
1 cd format booklet that contained 9 pieces of work, 2 pages of CV information, 1 business card, with contact details shown on the back cover. My logo and name was shown on the front cover, a long with the title 'graphic designer'. The booklet was contained in a thin plastic pocket to protect it, and make it feel a little more professional.

1 envelope business card, containing 3 tiny postcards of work. My logo and title are printed on the front, with name and contact details on the back.

2 simple business cards - 1 printed on cartridge paper in my signature blue colour, and one printed on thick card, the logo on the front reversed out of the blue, and the contact details printed on the reverse

Envelope Prototype...

This is my prototype for the envelope business card containing 5 small cards showing examples of work...

Pro-mo Kit...

I have decided on the pieces that I want to produce for Tuesday's critique. I have decided to produce several options for the critique so that items can be discarded, or combined to produce something else.
I am going to produce:
  • 1 brochure, packaged + 1 double sided business card contained in an inside pocket
  • 1 set of postcards, packaged
  • 1 envelope business card containing 5 examples of work

Cover Test...

I'm not totally sure how to design the front cover. I'm leaning toward a very simple design, that utilises the signature colour I have chosen (Cerulean Blue). These are my initial ideas, it is likely that at this stage the finished article (for Tuesday) will be quite similar to something here...

Brochure Design Research...

These are a few brochure designs that I have looked at for a bit of inspiration. These are all from The Best of Brochure Design (Wilson Harvey: London). I've picked these few because they're similar to the type of thing I want to produce...

This concertina brochure is quite a simple design, and would be quite easy to produce. It may be too simple, and slightly too low-fi.

I quite like this envelope, it is slightly more technical than a normal envelope, but I think that there could be a better way of packaging my brochure.

I like the textures and use of type within this brochure. It is rather too professional, and I think it would need a lot of examples of work in it to justify dividing it up into sections. It is something to bare in mind for the future when I have more I want to showcase.

This brochure has a distinct personal feel. The photograph and use of hand written text create a strong link to the designer, a more personal interface. I think that this would work really well for an illustrator, but it's not really suited to what I want to express about my work.

Business Card Inspiration 2...

I found these business cards in World Business Cards Today (Pie Books). There were loads, so I've tried to pick out the ones that are most interesting, and that fit with the sort of persona that I want my business cards to have...

Business Card Inspiration...

I have been looking at existing business cards that are clever, quirky or show an inclination toward creativity and interesting design. These are some from Creative Bits

Branding Oneself...

As an initial starter brief we have been asked to produce a print based pro-mo kit for ourselves, plus a business card. During the type module last year we were instructed to produce a business card and CV, so I have made a little headway on this already. I intend to change my design slightly, and produce some form of package of examples of my work. These scamps are my initial ideas for how I can present myself...

Design Strategies...

Over the summer break we were asked to put together a presentation that detailed our summer experience, and our ambitions for our third year. My presentation was based around the two placements that I had done, and the skills and areas that I wanted to focus on this coming year...
